Hi Howard,

I've been wanting to put into writing what I shared with the level II class in October. How powerfully effective I feel the work that you are teaching is, not only to adult, but in my case to the children I've had the honor to treat in a pediatric clinical setting along side OT's & PT's.

I'd like to right away say that although it is difficult to measure wheather or not one particular therapy has a greater impact on the progress of a client than another, I can say with certainty that in both the cases I will briefly the kids involved had been engaged in ongoing therapies before I started my work.

I started treating a young boy (let's call him Dell) age 9 who was struggling with restrictive movement, primarily in his pelvis. He could not "hula-hoop" to save his life! He like many of the children being treated at the clinic who have a variety of sensory issues, including many facets of autism. I worked with Dell using a variety of massage techniques I've learned over the past 17 years as a massage therapist with minimal progress.

After taking level I and returning to clinic I began to use the myofascial techniques we were taught in your class almost exclusively and within the next two visits I began to see real results. I received feedback from both the OT and PT of his progress and how much easier he was to treat and measure on the days when their treatments followed my sessions.

I was initially concerned about the ability to modify your work with children, but remain effective, needless to say we did just that simply by doing what massage therapist are taught from the very beginning to do, "feel your way through the body and remain connected". He was not only hula-hooping, but jumping onto the massage table 3 feet off the ground without any assistance.

This was huge, since I had to help him onto the table initially. What's more remarkable to me is that all the progress we noted took place using upper myofascial work. Now that I've completed the lower body training, I expect even more of the "usual miracles".

On the other end of treatments, I briefly worked with a well developing toddler who was having issues with constipation and was involved in a series of cranial sacral session to calm the baby and help with sleep (which was great for new parents). But she was still constipated, even with medications.

We employed some of the myofascial techniques after having used infant massage strokes for two session. The parents begin to report bowel movements with increased frequency and consistency. Again it is difficult to assess what the difference maker was, but the parents report business as usual! I should also mention that I've taken other myofascial trainings, but none that I've felt would make a difference until now! By the way my adult clients love it!!!

Thank you for the opportunity Howard and I look forward to learning and sharing more,

Sincerely,
Devery
